Wednesday saw the 3rd of this years summer league in the tough conditions of Clyne Valley. A good turn out enjoyed lovely weather conditions and the Assembly in a sunny glade gave little indication of the tough conditions and technical challenges ahead. It was great to see the newcomers to the sport, who had taken part in the coaching earlier in the spring, successfully navigating the testing path network. Oscar Bowfell won the Yellow Course from Zack Rogers in a time of 26.49. The Orange Course was hotly contested with only 6 minutes separating all runners. Well done to Aled Williams for winning the course in a time of 22.51. The Light Green was probably on the hard side looking at the times but all finishers seemd to enjoy the challenge. This was won by David Doherty in a time of 61.20, just 14 seconds ahead of Diana McClure with young Llewellyn Robertson in third with a time of 69.23. The Green Course visited parts of the wood that were new to the runners and this presented different challenges as they navigated through open wood, complex contours, tough vegetation, marshes and river crossings. The times were long apart from the winner, GB squad member, Ben Mitchell, who said "great to run on a tough course, just like an Elite course". Chris Hiatt, in 2nd, led the rest of the pack with a creditable time of 50.32 followed closely by Iestyn Evans with 52.24.
